International students from over 130 countries have chosen to study at Miami-Dade College. We welcome students from around the world, because we know that a
mixture of international viewpoints enriches the academic experience for
those visiting us as well as for those in our
community.
Nonimmigrant alien students (F-1 students) have special requirements. In short, the admissions requirements are:

Admission Policy for International Students
If you have scored more than 550/213 on the TOEFL, you will take the Computerized Placement Test (reading, writing, and math) before beginning career courses. If you have scored below 550/213 on the TOEFL or have not taken TOEFL, you will be required to take the Michigan Placement Test of English as a Second Language. You will then either be given permission to take the Computerized Placement Test or be required to take English as a Second Language courses before taking the Computerized Placement Test.
Once you are admitted into the EAP (ESL for Academic Purposes) Program, you become a regular MDC student, and there is no need to reapply in order to begin taking career courses after you finish your English.
