Welcome!

Using Indirect Speech

Hi! In this lesson you will learn the difference between direct speech and indirect speech.

By the end of this one-hour lesson, you should know the difference between direct speech (or a quote) and indirect (or reported) speech. You should know how to identify each form, and you will learn how to report a statement using indirect (reported) speech. You also should be able to practice changing verb forms, pronouns and time references in the original quote so that they are correct in the indirect speech.

A word before we start......   As you do this lesson, you may see an option to Read, Listen/Watch, Practice, or Test Yourself.  You might also see an option to get Help or to go out to the Internet for Web Resources.  In your lesson, you will need to click the icon (picture) to go to the activity you want to do.
