Introduction/Warm-Up
One of the last steps
in the writing process is editing. There are many aspects of your
writing to focus on when you edit, such as verb tenses, commas, spelling
and capitalization. One secret to effective and quick editing is to know
what areas you have problems with in writing and edit for potential
mistakes in those areas first. Many non-native learners of English have
difficulties with the capitalization system in English because it is not
necessarily the same as that of other languages.
In English capital
letters are also called upper case letters. Small letters are sometimes
called lower case letters. Below is a table with the upper and lower
case letters of the English alphabet.

If you do a lot of
your writing by hand, make sure that you clearly differentiate between
your upper and lower case letters. Doing so will make your writing
easier to read and understand. If capitalization is a challenge for you,
make sure that you know the rules for capitalization in English and pay
attention to your capitalization when you edit your writing.
